Thailand Visa Process

Applying for a Thai Tourist Visa is straightforward, but you must plan. This guide will walk you through the process so you have all the information to hand when you submit your application.

The first step is to find out if you are eligible to apply. To be eligible, you must:

1) Be outside of Thailand

2) Have not been granted an extension of stay in Thailand

3) Not have previously entered into marriage with or become the spouse of a Thai national

4) Not be under police supervision

5) Not be prohibited from entering any country

6) Possess sufficient funds according to the following criteria:

-Less than USD 10,000: the applicant must show evidence that they possess sufficient funds equivalent to 120,000 baht per person;

-Between USD 10,000 and 30,000: the applicant must show evidence that they possess sufficient funds equivalent to 300,000 baht per person;

-More than USD 30,000: the applicant must show evidence that they possess sufficient funds equivalent to 400,000 baht per person.

Additional documents that the consular officer may request include proof of residence (a lease contract), a bank statement showing the applicant's account balance, proof of savings account balance and return flight tickets. Applicants who cannot meet these requirements will have their visa applications refused.

They will then be able to enter Thailand as tourists on a single-entry tourist visa by presenting their valid passports at one of our immigration checkpoints, where they will receive a stamp stating multiple entries are permitted. However, this stamp only permits them to work during their stay in Thailand.
